Infiniti Retail Ltd., the Tata Group company behind Croma, India’s top electronics and consumer durables brand, has appointed Shibashish Roy as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective November 18, 2024. This decision is part of a well-planned succession strategy, as the current CEO, Avijit Mitra, will retire in March 2025. Mitra will remain on the board of Infiniti Retail until his retirement.
Roy, who is currently serving as the Deputy CEO at Infiniti Retail, manages key areas such as store operations, eCommerce, marketing, and technology. His appointment ensures a seamless transition as Croma continues to expand its business.
Naveen Tahilyani, Chairman of Infiniti Retail, expressed gratitude for Avijit Mitra’s exceptional contributions over the years. He praised Mitra’s instrumental role in driving Croma’s growth, including increasing its revenue, team size, and network of more than 550 stores across India.
Tahilyani also expressed confidence in Roy’s ability to build on this success and further improve Croma’s omnichannel shopping experience.
Croma, now present in more than 220 cities across India, has seen significant growth in recent times. The brand continues to expand in metro suburbs as well as tier-2 and tier-3 cities. Additionally, Croma was recently listed in the Brand Finance India 100 study as one of the top 100 most valuable Indian brands.
