Sparkl Edventure, the new launch by Aakash Chaudhry, has raised $4 million in a seed fund round led by Deepinder Goyal of Zomato and Nithin Kamath of Zerodha. Sparkl conducts personalized online tuition for classes 6-12, heavily emphasising IB and Cambridge curricula, and provides mental wellness support.

Aakash Chaudhry, the brain behind the Aakash Institute, has garnered support from renowned consumer tech billionaires such as Deepinder Goyal of Zomato and Nithin Kamath of Zerodha for his new endeavour. Sparkl Edventure. According to an Economic Times report quoting undisclosed sources, the two are participating in a $4 million seed funding round for Kamath’s Rainmatter, which is known for its fintech and sustainability focus.

Sparkl was founded by Chaudhry in collaboration with Meritnation.com co-founders Pavan Chauhan and Ritesh Hemrajani in October this year. The link formed with the edtech platform, which was acquired as part of Chaudhry’s family business, Aakash Educational Services Ltd. (AESL), in 2020, served as the founding point for this collaboration. It flags off after the monumental $950 million sale of AESL to Byju’s in 2021, by which it became among the two biggest edtech transactions in India. Chaudhry still retains 11 percent ownership in AESL.

What is Sparkl
Sparkl aims to offer personalized online tutoring between students ranging from 6 to 12 with proper guidance from the Indian Baccalaureate and Cambridge bodies. The view to offering this splendid service is seen through the light of the personal instruction approach to an array of subjects, including but not limited to mathematics, science, languages, and business studies. Already functioning, Sparkl already has students from Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Pune, Hyderabad, and Singapore. More will join in the future as the company intends to open its arms wider to these students.

“The platform was originally slated for launch in 2025 anyway, but since product readiness is ahead of schedule, all timelines were moved fast forward,” said a source. Seed funding will really speed up Sparkl’s rollout from now on.

Sparkl is different in the sense that it is a purely digital platform related to the international curriculum and study abroad aspiration; it offers no test prep, an offline-orientated model that is available from AESL. In addition, Sparkl will also feature mental health support with monthly wellness sessions to curb stress and peer pressure.
