Monday.com CEO: Embracing Failure as a Key Component of Our Success

In this blog, we speak about Eran Zinman, who co-founded Monday.com alongside fellow software engineer Roy Mann in Israel back in 2012.

Monday.com is a cloud-based platform that enables businesses to create customized work and project management tools. This method is commonly referred to as ‘low code, no code,’ allowing teams the freedom to develop their own applications and manage workflows effectively.

When Monday.com went public on Nasdaq in the US in 2021, it was valued at $6.8 billion (£5.2 billion). This month, that valuation surged to over $14 billion, further establishing its status as a prominent success story in the Israeli tech landscape.

The platform now boasts more than a quarter of a million customers across over 200 countries. Approximately 27 percent of its global revenue is generated from Europe, with the UK being its second-largest market in terms of annual recurring revenue (ARR) from subscriptions. The company employs over 2,000 individuals.

Zinman and his leadership team have adopted the well-known Silicon Valley approach of “failing fast” to achieve success. “Frequent failure is essential for rapid learning,” Zinman notes.

This culture of embracing failure is encouraged from the leadership level. Zinman welcomes colleagues to challenge him directly during meetings, especially when they “know more than us.”

“I love it, that’s a core part of Monday’s culture,” Zinman adds with a smile.

The company also values transparency with its employees. They use an app called Monday Morning, which provides daily updates on key financial data.

From the beginning, Monday.com has been open about its goals. Their Tel Aviv office has a digital sign that tracks revenue growth, with a $1 billion target prominently displayed.
